Information on the impact of the storm in the Rhine/Ruhr area
More than 24 hours after the storm hit western Germany large parts of the infrastructure of the Ruhr area are still closed due to fallen trees and power masts as well as torn overhead power lines. For this reason the terminals Neuss and Duisburg can currently not be operated with the exception of direct trains from/to Rotterdam and Antwerp. The enforced train cancellations lead to a tailback in the other terminals.
A reliable forecast, when the blocked routes will reopen for commercial transports, is unfortunately still not available. Currently, it is assumed that this will not happen before Saturday. As soon as the routes reopen parked trains and already departed trains will be handled with priority. In indivdual cases we have routed certain trains to other terminals.
