SOLAS - International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea

As per 01.07.2016 the SOLAS guidelines (International Convention for Safety of Life at Sea) will become legally binding for all Container which will loaded on a Vessel.
This Agreement to protect human life at sea describes that from 01.07.2016 all container which will loaded on a Vessel, the VGM (Verified Gross Mass) must be confirmed by the shipper and reported to the shipping company in time.
If the VGM will not reported in time to the shipping line, the container will not be loaded on a Vessel.
Two permissible methods for weighing:
Method 1: Weighing the fully packed and sealed containers
Method 2: Addition of Containertara + Cargo + packaging- and stuffing material
Quality requirements and Tolerances to both methods have not been yet published by the legislator.
Within the next days we will provide our updated sales conditions, with detailed information regarding transport regulations (transportation of non VGM reported containers), restrictions and our offered weighing possibilities for method 1.
